What made you decide to come to CrossFit RAZE?
At that time I was looking for a gym because I wanted to get back into a fitness routine but I alway made excuses to not sign up. One day I saw a friend, and she told me about CrossFit RAZE and how much she loved it. I’ve heard of CrossFit before but I never had a desire to try it. Just like most people I thought I’d have to get in shape first before trying anything like that. I decided to give it a try and see what it’s all about. I loved the atmosphere and the energy of the place. Everyone was super nice and welcoming. The day I came to CrossFit RAZE I knew I found what I was
looking for.
How often do you workout?
5-6 days per week
What changes have you noticed and achieved both mentally, emotionally and physically since being a member at CrossFit RAZE?
One of the most important changes is my relationship with my body and my relationship with food. I have struggled with eating disorders most of my life. As a young girl growing up in a chaotic world of war, instability, unrealistic standards of beauty and constant obsession for perfection I felt out of control, but I learned the only thing I could control was my body. Over the course of eighteen years the thing I though I was in control of actually controlled me. It controlled every aspect of my life from the time I woke up till I’d go to sleep.
Through CrossFit and paleo I have learned how to truly take control of my life again. I am not a size 0 anymore and that is ok. Thanks to the CrossFit RAZE community I am in the best shape of my life. I am stronger that I’ve ever been, and I’m absolutely amazed at the transformation not only physical but mental. Most importantly, I have learned to appreciate my strengths and accept my weaknesses. Shed the doubts of what I thought I could and couldn’t do and allow myself to grow and unleash my full potential.
What are your favorite movements and WODs?
I’m not sure if I can pick favorites. Naturally I tend to favor the ones that come easy and dislike the ones I struggle with. One thing I have learned though, with a good coach and hard work things I though I’d never be able to do, I’ve improved on and I’m staring to enjoy.
What’s the most important thing you have learned about yourself through being a member at RAZE?
I enjoy being part of the team, but most of all I enjoy seeing people succeed. I love to see new members come in with no experience, terrified and blossoming into something they themselves never thought possible. There is something magical about watching people achieve there goals and me being part of their success.
What keeps bringing you back to RAZE?
RAZE is like a home away from home. I have met some wonderful people there whom I genuinely care about. RAZE is not your average gym. It is a place where everybody knows your name and they’re alway glad you came.
If someone is reading this right now and is interested in coming to CrossFit RAZE but still nervous about taking the leap, what would you say to them?
One of the biggest misconceptions people have is that you have to get in shape in order to try CrossFit. That truly is far away from the truth. With the help of the coaches and the members people from all walks of life and any level of fitness can be easily intergraded and will succeed. At the end of the day our bodies are capable of anything, but our biggest obstacle is out mind.
